On the Windows 98 desktop, double click on the “My Computer” icon.
In the My Computer Window, double click on the “Dial-Up Networking icon.
In the Dial-Up Networking window double click on the “Make New Connection” icon.
In the Make New Connection window, enter After 5 Solutions as the name for the computer you are dialing. In the Select a device field the modem that is install in the your computer should automatically appear. If the entry in the device field is not correct, click on the field down arrow to select the correct modem. If your modem does not appear, consult your system documentation for installing modems. After the fields have been correctly entered click the “Next” button.
Type in the correct local phone number. If you do not know the correct number view the Local Number menu item on http://www.a5s.com. Most numbers will be your local exchange number followed by 7380. View the example below. After you have enter the phone number click on the “Next” button.
The following window will appear. Click on the “Finish” button.
A new icon called After 5 Solutions will appear in the Dial-Up Networking window.
Click the Right mouse button on the After 5 solutions icon and select the Properties menu item.
Select the items:
Log on to network
Enable software compression
TCP/IP
Click on the TCP/IP Settings button.
Select Server assign IP address and Specify name server addresses. Enter as the primary DNS 216.90.255.14 and as the Secondary DNS 216.90.255.15.
Click on the “OK” button.
Click on the After 5 Solutions icon and continue to hold the left mouse button down. Drag the icon onto your desktop by moving the mouse cursor onto you desktop.
Double click on the After 5 Solutions icon and the menu below will appear. Enter your user name and password. If you want your password saved, click on the Save password box. Clock on the “Connect” button.
The following two windows will appear, indicating that your modem is dialing and then connected and logging in to After 5 Solutions.
